November 19th, 2007 by Greg Solecki
Radio-Canada reported that on November 16–17, heavy rain caused river levels to rise in the Gaspé region causing evacuations and road closures. More than 100 millimetres of rain fell which caused rivers to overflow and forced the evacuation of about 250 people; Matane was the worst hit area, with 160 evacuees. All evacuees were able to return home on November 18. According to cyberpresse, flooding caused the closure or partial closure of Highway 195 (from Matane to Saint-René), Highway 198 (from L’Anse-Pleureuse to Murdochville) and Highway 299 (from Sainte-Anne-des-Monts to New Richmond).
