The Alberta government is cutting back on monitoring water quality in remote areas as part of its strategy to shrink the province’s $4.7-billion budget deficit.
Environment Minister Rob Renner said at a conference in Medicine Hat on Friday the government will instead focus on monitoring bodies of water in populated areas and near heavy industrial development.
