The threat of spring flooding is always real around the Ottawa area’s large rivers, especially after snowfalls such as those seen this winter, but some who monitor water levels are cautiously optimistic about this spring’s flood risk.

People in The Pas, Man., are scrambling to stock up on water after the community issued a boil-water advisory Wednesday morning.
Equipment that cleans drinking water for the northern Manitoba community has malfunctioned, town officials said, resulting in the system being “unable to maintain a satisfactory disinfectant residual.”
